Chattanooga,
Tennessee:
Tennessee Riverpark
One of the most engaging and popular projects
to emerge from the Tennessee Riverpark Master Plan was the
Riverwalk - a continuous circuit of parks, trails, and landmarks
that stretches from the Chickamauga Dam through downtown Chattanooga
to Maccasin Bend. The first phases have surpassed all expectations.
The Riverwalk has been described as "a necklace with
various jewels, each being unique and special high quality
developments, along the way." Current jewels include
the Tennessee Aquarium and Ross's Landing Park and Plaza,
the Chattanooga Rowing Center, Centre South Riverport Industrial
Park, the historic Bluff Furnace Exhibit, RiverSet Apartments
and Heritage Landing residential development. For more information,

Crystal
Springs, Mississippi
Chautauqua Boardwalk
From the Clarion Ledger, April 2002:
Chautauqua boardwalk now open to public
The second and final phase of an elevated boardwalk/nature
trail has been completed and opened to the public at Chautauqya
Park in Crystal Springs. The new 500-foot section of the Tree
Top Trail brings the total length of the completed structure
to 1,500 feet. Sally Garland, director of parks and recreation
for the city of Crystal Springs, said the boardwalk, which
winds through the trees in the heavily wooded park, has proved
a popular attraction since the first 1,000 feet were completed
in January. The 74-acre Chautauque Park, which features another
3 miles of traditional nature trails, is on U.S. 51 in Crystal
Springs, approximately 1 mile south of the Mississippi 27
interchange.
