Riverwalk groundbreaking set

TUSCALOOSA - Business and city leaders will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk.

The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. at the riverboat landing along the Black Warrior River, at the end of Greensboro Avenue behind Tuscaloosa Motor Co. The event, sponsored by the Tuscaloosa Department of Transportation and the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, is intended to highlight plans for the riverwalk.

The first phase of the riverwalk will consist of a 3,200-foot walkway that will include a shared-use pathway with landscaping, lighting and other amenities such as park benches, bike racks and a gazebo.
