Catch the holiday spirit on December 7, 2012, and be a part of the festivities as historic downtown Columbus celebrates our 9^th Annual Wassail Fest. Dozens of downtown restaurants, shops and businesses participate! Last year over 1000 people came and cast their votes for their favorite Wassail at 29 participating businesses! Entertainment will be throughout downtown as musical groups perform throughout the downtown area will sing along the sidewalk and inside establishments. Merchants always add to the joyous occasion by offering special holiday activities, in store demonstrations, pictures with Santa and door prizes for the guests and customers. Again this year, the lighting of the City Christmas Tree will also be the same night at 6:00 pm next to the Welcome Center.

Everyone is welcome and invited as holiday guests to sample a wide variety of Wassail, a drink whose name means “…to your health.” Wassail is a mixture of juices and spices that has been served over centuries as far back as Robin Hood and his merry men. Many of our downtown merchants go to great lengths preparing their special wassail to serve several hundred guests, so we encourage you to do the same! Three “Wassail-meister” Awards will be presented based on people’s choice voting. Wassailfest guests enjoy great music, strolling through downtown, shopping in the stores and having dinner at one of our many fine restaurants downtown. After all the ballots are counted the “Wassail-meister” will be announced Wednesday morning and awarded a trophy (and bragging rights)!
